"My Uncle [Ross Smarekar], To me was a quiet man His smile has brought me back outta dark places the few times I saw him. I never was that close to him but I Loved him regardless I will miss him."

Classmate Ross E Smarekar joined this world on 5 May 1955, graduated with us, eventually migrating to the Chattanooga TN area where he married, had children and passed into the next world on 29 July 2010 at the age of 55. Below is his obituary:

Ross E. "PinWiz" Smarekar, [55], a 34-year resident of the Chattanooga area, died on Thursday, July 29, 2010. He was employed by Velk Amusement of Lenoir City. Survivors include his wife, Margaret Smarekar; daughters, Heather Smarekar and Holly Wyatt, both of Cleveland; sister, Lynetta Venable of Nichelson, Ga.; brother, Dan Smarekar of Rossville; grandson, Aberum. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 8, at Lane Funeral Home, 601 Ashland Terrace. Visit www.lanefh.com to share condolences.

If anyone can add to Ross's story, please do so. BTW his brother Dan was also a Grissom Student (class of 76). The notice of his passing was kindly provided to us by a friend of theirs from Grissom's class of 77.

Debra and I attended Ross' funeral.  We met a number of times in Knoxville or Chattanooga for late lunch or early dinner.  Debra and I miss him, but joyful to knnow he joined the Church Triumphant.
